And You Can Kiss My Royal Black...
Them: You've darkened since the last time we saw you.
Me: I am dark.
Them: Don't be silly. No one in our family is dark.
Me: I am dark.
Them: You're the same colour as your mother.
Me: No, I am dark.
Them: No one in our family is dark.
Me: I am dark.
Them: We don't know why you have this complex.
Me: I don't have a complex. You have a complex. Me, I just have a complexion. I'm just dark.
Them: Why do you wear that lipstick? It makes you look dark.
Me: I am dark.
Them: Don't be silly, no one in our family is dark.
Me: ^_^ (read: am pushed to the point of using an emoticon I don't even understand)
Ad infinitum.
Oh, here's my Ammama and I, on her 80th (some say 79th..) birthday a couple of days ago. She has darkened with age, and now is nearly the same colour as me. I think everyone who won't be around to see it is glad they won't be for when my own age-melanin kicks in. Because, you know, then I'd be dark.
Update: Okay, fine, image removed. Apparently, people are searching for Ammama and her whereabouts. Oh look, there's that emoticon again. ^_^
